Level V Captain Rank Chief Sailing Instructor / Assessor

Rated 4.94/5 by 7 students
My ultimate passion is sailing and has been for over 40 years. I enjoy various aspects of the sport including racing, cruising, chartering in foreign countries and completing long distance yacht deliveries. Teaching allows me to share my knowledge and experience while watching students develop the abilities to sail the world. I do my best to ensure that each student learns in a stress-free and fun environment. I feel so strongly about having fun when learning to sail that I named my company FunSail!

Dave is an excellent, calm and patient instructor. I have already recommended him to several people. He has the ability to put you in a comfort zone when I felt totally out of mine!! it was a great experience. I am continuing to get more on water experience which includes crewing and taking the helm so each time I get out, I feel more competent.

Practical Competence of Bareboat Charter Master Rank
David was extraordinary. I have about 50 years of sailing experience and thought that I had contemplated and experienced more situations than most. While David reinforced many of the procedures that I used (docking, anchoring, etc) , he did point out several areas where I would be wise to make adjustments to my approach. Several of these involved safety issues. I do plan on taking what he said very seriously. In a nutshell- David has a magical way of getting you to think differently about things that may have worked in the past. He is a gem.

Dave was great! He really knows his stuff, has a ton of knowledge and has a great way of teaching those skills to even the most beginner sailors! I’d recommend Dave as an instructor to anyone wanting to learn to sail.
